The first weekend in April the Michigan Sailing Team hosted the annual Big Ten Team Race on Baseline lake. Since it was during spring break for many of the Midwest teams, we were fortunate to have Northwestern and Minnesota bring multiple teams. Saturday was warm and beautiful until a 47 knot squall caused 6 boats (including the race committee) to flip in a matter of seconds. Sailing was canceled for the rest of the day. Sunday 11 races were sailed to finish a second rotation. Three protests were filed, one was heard resulting in a DSQ. Michigan won the regatta with 8 wins and 0 losses. Go Blue!
Also, a huge thanks to Sperry Top Sider for sponsoring the event with prizes for our winners.
