The Michigan Sailing Team was ecstatic to win the Spirit Award at the third annual Club Sports Field Day event in April. Earlier in the evening over 100 club athletes flooded the Coliseum for activities including lightning,
dodgeball, tug-of-war, cornhole, foursquare and other games.
At 8PM everyone headed to the Junge Family Champions Center for awards
and a speech by keynote speaker John U. Bacon. Bacon's speech touched
on the true spirit of athletics embodied in Club Sports, where athletes
play for pure passion of their sport. After Bacon's inspiring speech,
the ceremony concluded with team and individual awards, cake, and an
Adidas raffle.
The team has been vying for this award for multiple years and is happy that some of our crazy efforts (placing a boat on the diag, having everyone wear their life jackets to class and more) have made our dreams come true.
We are looking forward to another great season. Check out the website soon for recruiting updates!
